What's New in Stokkap: September 2026

This has been the biggest single update we've shipped: a month of building, testing, and rewriting core parts of the app. Some of it you'll notice immediately - a faster interface, a redesigned scanner. Some of it is quieter but changes how bigger operations run day to day - purchase orders, serial tracking, multi-currency cost prices. Here's everything that's new.

A faster app, from the ground up

Around 90% of the Stokkap app is now a single-page application (SPA). In practice, that means:

• A smoother, faster interface - navigating around the app no longer means waiting for a full page to reload.
• Proper back/forward browser behaviour - going back actually takes you back to where you were, not to a blank reload.
• Only the data that changed gets refreshed - not the entire page, every time you move between screens.

It's not a flashy feature you'll see in a screenshot, but it's the kind of change you feel within the first five minutes of using the app.

New camera scanning & QR support

Camera scanning has been rebuilt. In our testing across iPhone and Android, the new engine is faster, more reliable, and produces noticeably fewer misreads than the previous version. It's still not quite at the level of a dedicated hardware barcode scanner - but it's a clear step up from where we were.

You'll now see two scan modes:

• New (default) - supports standard barcodes plus QR codes, with improved detection.
• Legacy - the previous scanning engine, kept available for now.

Alongside the new engine, scanning also gets two smaller but handy additions:

• Flashlight toggle - turn on your phone's torch straight from the scan screen, for dimly lit stockrooms and warehouses.
• QR label printing - render and print your barcodes as QR labels instead of traditional barcode labels. This is available in-app only for now.

Pick & pack, sharpened

Pick & pack has had one of the biggest overhauls in this release, focused on keeping pickers moving and giving you better visibility once an order's underway.

• Can't pick - if an item can't be located or turns out to be damaged, pickers can now mark it Can't pick and keep going rather than stalling the whole order. Every Can't pick is logged and visible in the order detail's pick & pack section, along with the reason.
• Live refund awareness - if a line item is refunded while an order is mid-pick, pick & pack now reflects that automatically.
• Notes where you need them - the customer's order note is now visible directly in pick & pack, along with the three most recent internal notes, so pickers have context without leaving the screen.
• WPC Product Bundles support - bundle parent products no longer clutter the pick list; the individual items that make up a bundle are shown with a "Bundle" label instead, so pickers know exactly what they're looking at. If you use a different bundle plugin, let us know - we're happy to add support.
• Unknown barcode handling - if a scan doesn't match anything, pickers can now link that barcode to any item already on the pick list, confirmed with a second scan for safety. If the barcode already belongs to a different product, overwriting it requires product-edit permissions.
• External stock status - when an item depletes from an external location (like a supplier you don't hold stock for), pick & pack now shows a status such as On order, Needs ordering, or Ready for picking - tied directly into the new purchase orders feature below.

Purchase orders: know what to order

New in the main navigation: a Purchases tab. It's a good start, not the finished picture yet - focused on clearly surfacing what needs ordering in, rather than stock you already hold.

Here's the scenario it solves. Say you have two location types - Warehouse and Supplier. When stock depletes from Supplier, you likely don't physically hold that item yet - it needs to be ordered in before anyone can pick it. You also don't want supplier stock skewing your own stock or financial reports.

So first, in Store Settings → Inventory, you can now exclude a location type from your stock and financial reporting entirely. Once a location type is excluded, Stokkap knows that anything depleting from it isn't sitting on your shelf - it needs ordering.

The Purchases tab then does the work for you:

1. It scans your processing orders and backorders, plus restock forecast suggestions if forecasting is enabled, to build a list of what clearly needs ordering.
2. Products must have a supplier assigned for this to work.
3. Before sending, you can add extra items to the order yourself - not just what Stokkap has suggested.
4. Stokkap generates the purchase order for you - export as a PDF, or email it straight to your supplier in your store's configured language.
5. Mark the PO as sent once it's on its way to your supplier.
6. When delivery arrives, reopen the PO and verify it by scanning items in, assigning a location as you go.

Once verified, that stock becomes available to pick straight away - it doesn't need to land in general inventory first. And if you receive more than you ordered, you choose exactly where the extra stock goes.

Serial number tracking

Serial tracking is for stores where the journey of an individual unit matters - not just how many you have, but which one went where. Think high-value items or anything covered by a warranty, where you need to trace a specific unit from purchase all the way to the customer sale.

• Each serial is assigned to a specific sale, so you can trace any unit's history on request.
• Serial tracking can be turned off completely in store settings if it's not something your business needs.
• You can now record additional information per serial, such as weight or expiry date.
• Enabling serial tracking on a product is quicker and simpler than before.
• Quick lookup in the WordPress plugin now surfaces serial information directly, not just stock counts.

Multi-currency cost prices

Some stores buy from suppliers who invoice in different currencies, and want their cost prices to reflect that. Cost price now supports multi-currency, available in plugin settings.

By default, nothing changes - cost price stays in your store's default currency. From there, you have two options:

• Switch your default cost-price currency - existing cost prices keep the currency they were originally recorded in; only new or edited cost prices use the new currency.
• Enable multi-currency cost prices - different products (or suppliers) can each carry a cost price in their own currency, and you choose whether entered values include tax.

With multi-currency enabled, a currency dropdown appears wherever you edit cost price. In store settings, you'll add exchange rates for each currency you enable - Stokkap will warn you if any enabled currency is still missing a rate. From there, you can toggle any configured exchange rate to export your inventory value in that currency, or view live cost vs. retail comparisons in Reports → Charts.

Build and manage orders from Stokkap

Order management now goes well beyond viewing and picking existing orders.

• Create a new order directly from the order page - assign an existing customer or create one on the spot, and edit customer details inline.
• Add shipping, with tax and shipping handled correctly throughout.
• Generate a pro forma invoice and send it your way: email it to a supplied address, send the payment link manually, or let the customer scan a QR code that takes them straight to your WooCommerce checkout. Live polling shows you the moment payment lands - no refreshing needed.
• Refund line items just like in WooCommerce, with a restock option included.
• Every refund can now generate a credit note.

POS: offline mode & payment links

Point of Sale now works fully offline - and keeps working even if your WooCommerce store itself goes down.

• Everything syncs automatically once you're back online.
• A new setting lets you suppress the "new order" notification email normally sent to the store owner for POS sales.
• Product images won't display while offline, since they aren't cached locally.
• Payment links in POS - choose "Pay with WooCommerce" at checkout and show the customer a QR code (or email them the link) that takes them to your site to pay. Just like pro forma invoices, live polling confirms the moment payment lands so you can release the goods.

Up next for payments: direct support for Stripe, PayPal, and UK merchant Pays.

Shipping labels with Shippo

Order management now includes a shipping step, powered by Shippo. This first pass is focused on post-sale fulfillment - generating shipping labels and tracking numbers - rather than live carrier rates at checkout. It fills a gap that's been missing from fulfillment until now. We're looking at supporting more carriers next, including InPost.

More improvements

• CSV cost price import - inventory CSV import now supports cost prices, either as a standalone import or bundled together with your stock/supplier import.
• Location transfers from the product edit screen - you can now transfer location stock straight from the WooCommerce product edit screen, no need to jump into Stokkap for a quick transfer.
• Bin/location metadata for integrations - Stokkap-depleted order lines now carry compact bin/location metadata (_stokkap_bin_location), so compatible third-party picking tools can read exactly where stock came from.
• Smarter weight & dimensions - variations without their own weight or dimensions now fall back to the parent product's values automatically, and both are easier to adjust directly from the product detail screen.
• Scheduled full sync - by default, Stokkap now runs a full sync every Sunday at 1:30am in your store's time zone. Some changes made directly in WooCommerce, like renaming an attribute, aren't something we can track in real time, so a scheduled full sync catches and corrects any discrepancies like that. It usually takes a couple of minutes on an average store, and defaults to a quiet time - you can switch it to daily, or set your own preferred time, in store settings.
• Danish and Norwegian are now supported languages.

What's next

This release is the first big step toward Stokkap becoming a genuinely next-level WooCommerce operations platform, not just a stock plugin. More payment providers, more shipping carriers, and more bundle plugin support are all already in motion - and a lot of it depends on feedback from stores actually using these features day to day, especially the new scanner.
